The artful dabbler
Culture Minister Nelson McCausland is no stranger to controversy. Like all of us he may have his views on what he would like to see at our cultural festivals or in our museums, but, as his Department is a major funder of the arts, he is treading on dangerous ground in trying to influence what exhibits go into the Ulster Museum or who is invited to attend the Belfast Festival at Queen's.
His actions could be interpreted as an unfair use of his position and he would be better advised to allow those in charge of festivals and museums to do their job without interference. Mr McCausland should concentrate on the art of politics and not the politics of art.
