The future of H&W can be as bright as lights on its cranes
It seemed earlier this year that there would be little to celebrate at Christmas for the workers at Harland and Wolff in Belfast. The company had gone into administration and the chances of finding a buyer for the remnants of a once world-leading shipyard seemed remote, but the workers were made of stern stuff.
They staged a sit-out at the yard gates and eventually a buyer was found.
Now, with jobs secure, it is time to celebrate, and the giant shipyard cranes, Samson and Goliath, have been decked out in festive lights, as have several other cranes around the city.
It is good to see a historic business, as well as new projects, shining brightly.
