The record breaker
Londonderry man Tony Cregan has got the new owners of music retail giant HMV in a spin. The company's legal department wrote a stiff letter to him when he opened a new record shop in the city after HMV closed with the loss of 17 jobs.
His cunning marketing ploy was to call his shop HVM, but that was too close to the original for comfort according to the lawyers.
Now he has got his own back by simply turning the sign upside down so it reads WAH.
Corporate giants like to crush cheeky upstarts, but in this case they seem to have handed Mr Cregan a publicity coup.
Wouldn't it be great if he can make a success of his new venture and prove HMV wrong for pulling the plug in what is after all the UK City of Culture?
