Thomas is reel deal when it comes to hooking the big fish
Ballymena fisherman Thomas White never has to tell about the one that got away. As if to prove the point, he has just come back from an expedition where he hooked the fastest fish in the oceans.
It may be dubbed the cheetah of the seas, but the Indo-Pacific sailfish wasn't too swift for Thomas, who landed more than 40 of them before releasing them back to the waves.
For most of us, landing a salmon would be the highlight of our angling careers, but Thomas has far more exotic prey, previously hooking a monster stingray in a Thai river. Casting into his local Braid River must hold little appeal after that.
As for those who might be tempted to think that he, like many fishermen, tells tall tales - he has a photographic record of his catches.
