Our beaches are among Northern Ireland's greatest assets. We have miles of beautiful shores, many of them virtually unoccupied for long periods and which must be the envy of tourists from more densely populated areas. But there is one blight on our shorelines which could easily be eradicated with just a little common sense and thought for others.
It is estimated that 3.3 millions pieces of rubbish deface our beaches, most of them single-use plastic items such as drinks bottles and food wrappers.
There is no excuse for discarding rubbish on the beaches. Either put them in the bins provided or take them home.
