Tributes to Tommy Breslin show he'll be sadly missed

Editor's Viewpoint

the sudden death of former Cliftonville manager Tommy Breslin has devastated the local football scene, and the tributes from many different quarters testify to the integrity and popularity of a figure whom many describe as "a gentleman".

The tributes underline the degree to which Mr Breslin was respected on all sides, and this in itself is a special accolade.

He was one of the club's most successful managers, winning consecutive league titles and a host of other top honours. In four years he won no fewer than eight trophies.

However, Tommy Breslin was also a very successful human being who made a major contribution to his chosen sport and to his community. His early death is virtually beyond words, and he will be sadly missed.
