We can all do our bit to keep tourist numbers buoyant

Editor's Viewpoint

One of the good news stories currently is that of the thousands of tourists who visit us each year on board cruise liners.

Some 40,000 Chinese visitors also arrived in Belfast by ferry from Scotland last year alone. It is estimated that by 2020, visitors will boost our economy by up to £22 million, with an expected influx of 230,000 people. It's up to us to do all we can to help them enjoy the attractions of our beautiful province, and provide a lasting impression which might encourage them to urge their families and friends to visit us in future.

Apart from having such wonderful scenery, and historic places to visit, one of the great qualities of our people is our ability to give a warm and personal welcome to all our visitors. That is one of the things which people really remember.
