While not remotely comparable to the tragedies of coronavirus, the perhaps inevitable cancellation of this year's Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival, and its sibling, the Out To Lunch Festival, is nonetheless regrettable.

Under the direction of Sean Kelly these have developed into outstanding showcases, with programmes that are the envy of larger, and better-funded, festivals.

Mr Kelly has promised that both festivals will return bigger and better in 2021.

When the coronavirus passes, it will leave us with an even greater appreciation of what makes life in Northern Ireland so distinctive.
