Why bureaucrats should lift ban on Edna permanently

Editor's Viewpoint

The banning of an elderly woman from feeding cats in the Stormont Estate on security grounds was simply inviting ridicule at a time when the real problem there is getting a locally elected government up and running. Although the ban has been temporarily lifted, that only adds to the debacle.

Is she a security risk or not?

While one can sympathise with the need for screened access to sensitive parts of the estate, the decision to exclude Edna Watters was lacking in commonsense. She is a well-known figure in the area doing something she loves at her own expense, and if the authorities have any heart they will lift the ban permanently.
