Airport growth will benefit us

I APPLAUD Environment Minister Edwin Poots' approval of the easing of sales restrictions at Belfast City Airport and I look forward to his approval of the runway extension.

I live five minutes from the airport, I have friends who live in Mersey Street and others who work at the Odyssey.

They do not find the low-flying planes a problem.

Northern Ireland needs the jobs that the expansion of the airport will bring. As we are all aware, there have been massive lay-offs in the private sector, together with 20%-40% pay cuts - unlike the public sector who even complain about a pay-freeze and, to date, relatively few pay-offs.
