Airshow mess like a squabble in school yard

I AM fit to be tied by the recent closed-for-business decision forced upon the Ulster Aviation Society by, it seems, petty, schoolboyish infighting and point-scoring at Stormont (News, August 6).

The Ulster Aviation Society has been forced to cancel its two-day programme of events at the former Maze site. After waiting five months, it failed to get approval for the events from Stormont.

The use of the site, the former prison outside Lisburn, needed approval from the First and Deputy First Ministers.

Frankly, it is unbecoming of people in Government that we have a minister who decides to block an event that is very popular with the public – all to make a political point. It all reminds me of what happened in the school yard years ago when the lad who brought the ball picked it up and ran away when he wasn't allowed to pick the team – everyone's fun was ruined.
