Approval for new hangar is flight of fancy
Your report (Business, January 16) that DETI and the EU have provided funding for the building of a £1.4m aircraft hangar at Enniskillen Airport beggars belief in our economic climate.
It is not clear how such a construction will benefit enterprise and tourism, as indicated by Arlene Foster.
Corporate and private aviation usage has declined throughout Ireland during the last three years and Enniskillen Airport is nothing more than a rural airfield used occasionally by small aircraft. This hangar will, in all probability, become nothing more than a useful storage facility and, ultimately, be sold off for a fraction of its publicly-funded cost.
