Belfast store's closure a huge loss for the city centre

IN recent times, there have been many changes to the centre of Belfast - many of them a welcome improvement on the devastation wrought by the years of conflict.

Not all change, however, necessarily marks progress, and one new prospect I, for one, find most unwelcome is the imminent closure of the photographic suppliers Black & Lizars in Wellington Place.

As a long-time customer, I feel that not only I and all their other clientele, but the city centre in general, will be the poorer for losing this long-established business and the expert and courteous service its staff provided.

Alas, it appears it has been a casualty of harsh business decisions made elsewhere.
