Bishops need to read their Bibles
You report (News, May 26) that, even after all that has been revealed about the rape of children by priests and the cover-ups, the Catholic Italian Bishops' Conference has advised bishops they are not obliged to report abuse to the police. Surely this is in breach of Leviticus 5:1, where it says: 'If a person sins because he does not speak up when he hears a public charge to testify regarding something he has seen or learned about, he will be held responsible.'
Shouldn't some theologians remind them what the Bible commands?
