C4 history lesson perfect for pupils

The Channel 4 documentary Hunt For The Arctic Ghost Ship should be made compulsory viewing for all our school pupils.

It is the true story of how the Franklin Expedition to find the north-west passage for shipping through the treacherous waters of northern Canada turned into a nightmare in the ice.

After Sir John Franklin's death, Captain Francis Crozier - born and raised in Banbridge - took charge. What remained of the ships' companies tried to walk hundreds of miles to safety. They never made it and the starving men ended up eating each other in a desperate attempt to say alive. The perfect subject for schoolchildren to get their teeth into.
