Carers facing a thankless task

Foster carers are greatly needed - or so we are led to believe.

Having fostered for more than five years, we are now retired. Today I was most annoyed to receive a letter from the fostering network telling us that our membership has ceased, which is fine.

The letter advises us to take out insurance to protect against allegations that can still arise from when we were fostering.

We are now on a pension and this would be yet another drain on our resources, but I feel it may be necessary. So how long for? Probably for the rest of our lives.

Prospective foster carers need to be warned before they consider taking on this thankless task.
