Chance missed over living wage

THE DUP, UUP and Alliance in the Assembly have rejected a Green Party proposal to require that workers for companies contracted by Government be paid the living wage.

This rejection of the living wage by the Assembly was a missed opportunity to help the least well-off.

The vote demonstrates that there are some elected representatives who are unwilling to put their money where their mouth is and take any real action to meet their own commitments to reduce poverty.
