Charities do not have to pay for registration

THE Charity Commission for Northern Ireland has become aware some charities are concerned about a fee associated with the charity registration process.

I would like to reassure your readers that, while registration is compulsory for all charities, the commission does not charge a registration fee for any organisation applying to register.

In addition, the commission has produced a wide range of free guidance and support tools to assist charities in understanding their obligations and in successfully completing registration.

I would encourage all charities to use the guidance on our website – www.charitycommission – to prepare for registration now, including following the steps outlined on our website to ensure the commission has their charity's details for registration.
