Charity should begin at home


It is commendable to give aid when one can afford it, but David Cameron has pledged around £10bn per year in overseas aid and this money has to be borrowed and interest paid on it.

Meanwhile, in the UK, the list of those seriously affected by government cuts could go on forever. Mr Cameron can afford to make grand gestures. But the people at the bottom of the ladder are the ones he should be protecting.
