Church must look to more innovation
For many years now I have been a regular at my local Church of Ireland Parish Church in Lisburn.
However in the last year or so my attendance has declined drastically.
The main reason being that I can no longer sit in a pew alone, without knowing a soul. No one in my age group between 30 and 40 attends and I have no friends in the church.
I think the church tends to focus too much on families and the elderly and needs to address the needs of single people more. At the moment I feel completely ignored and have no incentive to attend anymore.
Why can't the Church of Ireland be more innovative and offer outreach services for single people in more friendly environments such as a cafe, library, cinema or even in a bar.
I am sure they would get more people attending than at present.
