Collins 'wrong about Gaza'

Tim Collins's assessment of the situation in Gaza, screened on BBC2 Newsnight on January 19, was not fair and thorough.

He totally ignored the blockade imposed on Gaza which denies them food and medicine.

Surprisingly, he clearly said that he sympathises with Israeli residents of Sderot without being able to point to one casualty in that town while he justified the killing of two Palestinian children by an Israeli tank on the grounds that it was difficult for the soldiers to assess the potential threat coming from that area.

And his assessment contradicts different human rights organisations and the UN fact-finding mission as he did not mention Israel war crimes at all.
