Concert lacked Christmas spirit

The RTE Concert Orchestra with John Wilson and Clare Teal put on a hugely enjoyable show at the Ulster Hall on Monday night.

But what a pity the occasion was rather lacking in festive atmosphere with no Christmas tree, colour or appropriate stage decoration on the night. Harsh lighting did not add to the experience.

Surely all this could, with just a little planning, have been made better for the audience and orchestra who braved atrocious weather conditions to be there.

All this is not to take away from the music - but let's get more of the joy, colour and atmosphere of Christmas next time.
