Cross-border car hire charge a joke
I'd like to say how appalled I am at the recent cross-border charge I had to pay when I hired a car from Belfast International Airport.
On top of the hire fee, in order for me to be insured for my short trip over the border to Bridge End, Co Donegal, I had to hand over an additional £23.
I have learnt that all car hire firms have an additional charge for taking a car from Northern Ireland into the Republic (ranging from £20-£75), except for Hertz.
To make matters worse, if a car is hired in the Republic (from any car hire company) and is taken across the border into Northern Ireland, no additional charge is levied.
Where is the logic?
