Defeat can drive Ireland on

The Irish rugby team's defeat in Paris will invariably deflate Irish rugby's delusions of grandeur and its capacity to translate Triple Crown glory and Grand Slam victory into the ultimate coronation of World Cup winners in 2011.

Those among us who think laterally realise that failure is all part of success. By learning from mistakes, the next step can be taken. Life is a game of inches and Ireland's ability to learn from defeat can drive them forward to World Cup glory next year.
