Dodds confused on human rights
For most people, the notion of a denial of human rights brings to mind barbarous acts that outrage the consciences of men and women. However, Nigel Dodds has described the restrictions on an Orange parade as a denial of those rights. This is an unworthy abuse of language.
Besides, human rights are not divisible and, were his argument to win, there could then be no reasonable objection to republican bands being permitted to process through loyalist areas.
Perhaps Mr Dodds is confusing human rights with traditional rights? The former elevate and the latter have no place in a civilised society.
