DUP ‘dictators’ have denied |us democracy

It's disappointing that the DUP have activated a ‘Petition of Concern’ to suppress democracy at Stormont.

This should only be used when democracy fails — not when your arguments fail. The Local Government (Disqualification) Bill received cross-party support and the majority of MLAs took it through to the final stage.

The DUP has denied us the right to normal democracy. |Instead we have a party using a unique clause designed to help our society come out of conflict to veto a democratically argued Bill.

Now even the most mundane Bill could be forbidden to us by a party that is more dictatorial than democratic.
