DUP/UUP link is not sectarian
Those who refer to closer links between the DUP and UUP as being 'sectarian' are blatantly misrepresenting the word.
Both parties support power-sharing and have a similar social and economic policy. Consolidating this middle ground of unionism will increase stability and undermine extremists who wish to destroy the devolved administration. The very nature of democracy and diversity means that parties will direct their campaign towards those most receptive.
Why should maximising the impact of the pro-Union vote be any more sectarian than targeting those who favour free enterprise, socialism, an all-Ireland republic or those who wish to be neutral on the Union? It is ironic that those claiming to be progressive and non-sectarian are the very people who reflect so much negativity towards the breaking down of barriers between political parties.
