Edmund Burke would have been no fan of EU

Dennis Kennedy (Saturday Review, July 2) attempts to justify any refusal by MPs to vote through Brexit by pointing to Edmund Burke's distinction between a representative and a delegate.

Just as interesting is the question of what Burke - that strong opponent of grand and utopian political schemes - would have made of what the European Union has become in practice.

My hunch is he would have been a stern critic.
