Executive needs to take a stand over A&E units
THE recent incident at the Royal Victoria Hospital, which saw an A&E overload, is unfortunately the small end of a thick wedge in under-investment in critical staff at acute hospitals.
Hospital staff work under tremendous pressure and are to be commended for their work and caring attitude, which, at times, can be stretched to breaking.
Where issues do arise is in the lack of staff to open closed wards and a lack of commitment by the Northern Ireland Executive to make decisive and governing rulings to run the country.
