Exploit the use of languages
Your correspondent Trafalgar (Write Back, November 10) is mistaken and inaccurate on several fronts, namely:
1. Language, any language, is a tourism resource. 2. Language is an intellectual resource. 3. Languages are also huge employers.
At a time of extreme economic challenges, we should be looking to exploit language abilities ie. teaching Irish and English to the Chinese, whose government has a policy of affording its citizens the opportunity of learning all of Europe's official languages.
