Financial fears stalk our elderly

Old age is a frightening place. Everything is under threat: health, wealth, well-being, hobbies and interests and life itself.

All cause fear, but nothing is more frightening to elderly people than the thought of financial ruin.

Large proportions of income go on heat and electricity, with many forgoing adequate food in order to pay utility bills.

A reported 20% rise in living costs will cause shame and embarrassment when they realise they are unable to make ends meet.

Who will fight their corner? Who cares?
