Fond memories of a joyous and inventive actor

SO sad to read your online report on the passing of JJ Murphy.

I was lucky to work with JJ on many productions when I first came to Northern Ireland. He was always an inventive and joyous actor to work with.

Always remembered for his deep, rich and melodious voice, I recall, with particular affection, directing him in Brecht's Schweyk in which he gave a superlative interpretation of the title role.

He was also a tireless campaigner for professional theatre here. I shall miss him.
