Foster has become a liability for her party

There is a way out of the present impasse at Stormont. The DUP should elect a new leader. When the new leader is elected, Mrs Foster can then resign.

Diane James, of Ukip, resigned as leader. She put the party first before herself. Mrs Foster should do the same.

Clearly, she will be a liability for the DUP in any future election. It is the people of Northern Ireland who will have to face this massive financial loss of around half a billion pounds - unheard of before in the history of Northern Ireland.
