Grandmother's arrest sends out wrong message
I wish to express my disappointment to read that a 72-year-old grandmother has been sent to jail for greeting her granddaughter.
Goodness, what kind of a law is it that sends a frail woman to jail?
Press reports say that it was the granddaughter who approached the grandmother.
God only knows how this arrest will have affected the poor granddaughter.
In times where child abuse is on the increase, could the courts not be better used in dealing with the abusers of children?
I do not know of the issues involved here, but travelling a few hundred miles to make such an arrest for greeting a grandchild begs the question: where is justice here?
Unconfirmed reports that the grandmother sustained injuries while in prison merely add to the trauma.
