Health services for everyone's mutual benefit

REGARDING Samuel Morrison of the Traditional Unionist Voice (Monday, February 24). He outlined the considerable cost to the "Northern Ireland taxpayer" for education and health costs availed of by "those from the Republic of Ireland or further afield."

All true, but there is another side of the story, i.e. those from Northern Ireland who avail of health and educational services elsewhere.

My much-loved mother-in-law from Northern Ireland spent a considerable time in a Republic of Ireland hospital recently, having been taken ill while visiting. There was no charge.

Perhaps, Mr Morrison, this arrangement is "for our mutual benefit".
