How does God feel about child abuse?

Reading that the Pope is distressed not only at the abuse of innocent children by his clerics, but also the cover-up by certain members of the Church, I wonder if the Pope is blameless?

Surely a man in his position must also have buried his head in the sand until he had no other choice but to take action.

To my knowledge, no one has mentioned how God feels about child-abuse - or the failure of his disciples.

When a cleric accepts the mantle of Pontiff, he (whether he likes it or not) must also accept the duty of care to his flock. Here the Pope has undoubtedly failed.
