I REFER to comments by Peter Robinson to the Belfast Telegraph last week - "that the moment I found out about Iris' affair (March, 2009) I knew it would become public and had told her her Parliamentary career was over. I made it clear to her that she could see out her terms but could not stand again"
In the News Letter last November, Iris scoffed at retirement. Contrast Peter's comments in the Belfast Telegraph in June, 2009 when a reporter suggested Iris may leave politics altogether.
Mr Robinson said it was his "expectation" that his wife would stay with one of her roles (either MLA or MP) and said he thought Iris's preference was towards Westminster.
It must have been rather embarrassing for the First Minister when Mark Davenport placed the transcript on his BBC blog.
