Inaccuracy in planter claims
Peter McEvoy (Write Back, February 21) has the victims' complaint: he is guilty of historical inaccuracy.
We planters have only been in the north for the odd 400 years - not 800.
He's in good company. I heard Martin McGuinness say the same falsehood when he visited a local secondary school.
And if Peter looks at world history, perhaps he can name the few countries which have not been 'invaded' by 'strangers' in the last 400 years.
Settlers from Ireland often behaved as 'strangers' in their treatment of the American Indian (or should that be the patronising 'native')?
