Innocence of grandson a great joy at Christmas
A few days ago, we enjoyed decorating the Christmas tree with our six-year-old grandson, excited that, at last, here was real evidence Christmas was approaching and soon he would see what Santa would bring.
Returning from shopping, we hurried to see if the little elf had been up to any mischief. His shocked reaction to find that the elf had been at the crisps was a delight.
How the innocence of childhood gladdened a grandad's heart. So much so that I couldn't bring myself to discuss with him, as some would have us do, any sexual identity problems he might be bottling up.
Neither did I ask if he was unsure of his gender, or explain that he could be 'gender-fluid' if he was unsure.
I do hope his Santa requests were gender-neutral.
