The Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu is to force people wanting to become Israeli citizens to pledge loyalty to what it describes as the "democratic nation-state of the Jewish people".
At present, a convoy on its way with much-needed humanitarian aid to Gaza is in a refugee camp in Latakia in Syria. This is a camp for Palestinians forced from their homes in Haifa and Acre in 1948 to make way for this supposed "democratic" state.
Israel denies them the right to return, yet people around the world with no connection to Palestine are allowed to become citizens of Israel, based solely on their religion.
Far from being democratic, it exposes once again the rotten, sectarian and racist nature at the heart of the Israeli Zionist regime.
