Israel's actions show it is a failed state

Regular contributors to this and other letter pages who regularly praise Israel should have a long, hard look at what they are eulogising.

This year hasn't been a year of major offensives; no bloody massed incursion into Lebanon or Gaza. Yet the Israelis have killed 800 Palestinians since January - 80 of them children.

What state has to kill, on average, a child every other day to stay in existence?

What state feels the need to cage, wall in and blockade its minority population to feel secure?

The answer is: a failed state.
