Israel’s critics so ready to accept propaganda

Ron Crawford asks (Write Back, January 23): “If Israel has nothing to hide, why then does it not apply to join the International Criminal Court?”. And concludes with the rhetorical question: “What is the real cause of Israeli opposition?”, to create the impression that Israel is trying to cover up what it is fully aware to be “its many war crimes”.

This is a typical example of the “When did you stop beating your wife?” genre so beloved of Israel’s critics to denigrate it, while uncritically parroting tendentious Palestinian propaganda as if it were unquestionable truth.

To quote another of your contributors (Write Back, January 23): “It is easy for newspapers to write ‘Je Suis Charlie’, but when put to the test, they fail to be robust in challenging the above comments.”
