Keep funding life-changing MS medicines
PEOPLE with MS in Northern Ireland are deeply concerned about potential cuts to life-changing MS drugs outlined in your paper (News, September 1).
There are more than 4,000 people living with MS in Northern Ireland. Access to effective drugs can transform their lives by reducing the number of relapses and alleviating distressing symptoms such as reduced mobility, vision loss and fatigue.
Being on the right treatment, at the right time, can not only improve quality of life, it may also help people with MS stay in employment and continue to live life to the full.
We understand the pressures the Health Service is facing, but it is essential that people in Northern Ireland have fair and equal access to effective MS medicines.
We urge the Health Minister and the Northern Ireland Executive to ensure funding for MS medicines is protected.
