Key facts about Middle East conflict ignored
MARTIN Stern's response (Write Back, March 21) to our letter about the killing of 22 Palestinian civilians in the Occupied West Bank by Israeli forces last year (March 19) ignores the fact that not one of those killed appeared to be posing an immediate threat to life. Yes, youngsters in the West Bank regularly throw stones at heavily-armed Israeli soldiers, or their armoured vehicles, but this rarely represents a serious threat.
By contrast, the Israeli Defence Forces's all-too-frequent shootings of young Palestinians has often proved fatal.
