Lab experiments on animals rise

IN spite of a post-election pledge by the coalition to reduce animal experiments, new figures show the total has risen.

The Home Office said the increase is due to more GM mice being used, but genetically altering mice does not make them unfeeling, disposable lab tools.

It has been proven that therapies which work effectively in GM mice fail when administered to humans.

Researchers must abandon archaic animal tests and adopt progressive, human-based science instead.
