Let's go to the polls over city flags dispute

One way of resolving the so-called 'flag dispute' is for the Alliance Party to stand down from their Westminster seat in East Belfast and have a by-election. This can then become a vote for the flag.

Alliance can put its position to the electorate in East Belfast, as can United Protestant Voice, UUP, DUP, etc.

The winner can then take their democratic mandate into the House of Commons, where Britishness is ultimately decided.

This would end the brutishness of the street protests and the rest of us can then get on with our lives in peace.
