Lindy McDowell: America sticks to its guns over firearms

The consequence of gun control is a society in which violent, anti-social people are armed while peaceful, law-abiding people are disarmed. Legislating gun safety results in greater safety for criminals only.

WTE: Um, no. Canada has a large proportion of gun ownership and lower crime rates involving firearms. Europe also has significant firearm ownership and lower criminal activity with firearms involved. Australia, after a mass shooting, reined in its privately owned weapons and criminal actions reduced dramatically.

If having guns is the answer to violence, what about the war-torn parts of the world that have all sorts of firearms? Like Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Yemen. Why haven't guns lowered their crime rates?

The gun and ammunition manufacturers are spending serious money pushing the erroneous nonsense that the government is trying to take guns away from law-abiding citizens. Many people were law-abiding until the moment they pulled the trigger in a fit of anger.

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun-control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents were rounded up and exterminated. In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians were exterminated. Germany established gun control in 1938. From 1939 to 1945, 13 million Jews and others were exterminated. China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents were exterminated.

Evidence shows that if you ban guns, criminals don't get them.
