Listen to public over Asda store

I WAS surprised to read the city centre manager for Derry Jim Roddy's comments (North West edition, March 2) when he said Asda should be "shaking in their boots" following the apparent refusal of our planning application to bring new jobs to the city.

Asda isn't "shaking in our boots", but working closely with the Planning Service to ensure they have all the information they require to assess our application.

Of those who attended the public exhibition on our proposal for Crescent Link Retail Park last September, or took part in our survey, 97% thought the area would benefit from increased shopping choice. Like us, Mr Roddy should be encouraged by the public's response to our plans.
