Loss of top civil servants due to our negativity
YOU report (News, March 11) the resignation of the chief executive of the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust. This is the latest in a series of resignations of top-class public servants over the last 12 months, or so.
This is worrying and we must ask ourselves: why? May I suggest it is in no small measure due to the incessant negativity that pervades our public life? Examples:
– a local media which ignores success and focuses disproportionately on problems
– politicians who achieve little
– an increasingly politicised Northern Ireland Audit Office.
