This week, as every June, the world highlights environment issues on World Environment Day.
The National Lottery also supports environmental good causes.
It has invested £127m in nearly 4,000 environmental projects across the UK. This funds a broad mixture of activities, such as allotments, wildfowl and wetlands, regeneration, cycling projects and energy-efficiency programmes.
In Northern Ireland in the last year alone, nearly £750,000 has been invested in environment projects, which benefit other sectors, like health and education.
These include Castle Espie in Co Down and Community Horticultural Enterprise in Fermanagh.
